PODFATHER GETS THE GREEN LIGHT FROM CARGO LOGISTICS
CarGo Logistics is a Leicestershire-based light haulage company carrying out general deliveries across the UK and Europe, but, more specifically, the company has carved a niche for itself as specialists in the transportation and delivery of liquid packaging products to the food industry – principally the Logipak collapsible plastic pallet system used for storing beverage products.
With vehicles covering Western Europe, the company’s adoption of The PODFather to fulfil CarGo Logistics’ daily reporting duties has made a significant impact on the daily management function of the business, but more importantly, it has provided flexibility enabling the company to take a most vital reporting component and have this integrated into their PODFather system as a bespoke service, as CarGo Logistics, managing director Phil Walden explains.
“We have to complete a daily running record of all our collections and deliveries to comply with HM Revenue and Customs regulations. Until recently, this information has been manually inputted into an ordinary daily diary, so it made sense to explore the potential of assimilating this information into The PODFather.
We held discussions with Valley Technology and they were able to build and seamlessly integrate a further reporting capability into our system which enables us to input our daily entries directly onto the PODFather. The time savings have been very impressive, but what is more important is the extensive capability of PODFather and because of this, it has become the most important business tool available to us.”
However, The PODFather has become much more useful to one member of CarGo Logistics’ team who has literacy problems. Collections and deliveries around London were a problem because of reconciliation issues with purchase orders and paperwork, but as Phil explains, these problems are now a thing of the past.
“One member of our staff has a reading and writing affliction which meant he was unable to fulfil only one job at a time, such was the severity of his condition. However, whilst he has a problem understanding addresses, he is fully conversant with the configuration of postcodes.
This means that we can upload jobs through The PODFather direct to his hand held PDA and his satellite navigation system enables him to input postcodes, so he NOW undertakes several delivery jobs around inner London, whereas before, he could only manage one due to the paper work that needed to be auctioned. The PODFather has made all this possible. It has made him a much more efficient employee and enables us to enhance our efficiencies.”
